Shuna Hughson brings extensive experience in program management, community engagement, and financial oversight to her role at Taproot Earth. Previously, as the Program Director for Immigration, Refugee Resettlement Services, ESL, and Food Pantry Providers, she led initiatives supporting immigrant communities, guiding them through pathways to citizenship, and providing essential resources and education.

Shuna has implemented change management processes, managed philanthropic, non-profit, and corporate contracts, and developed innovative recruitment strategies. Her leadership extended to forming an operations team to ensure organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

With her expertise in nonprofit management, she has led a nonprofit focused on legal representation and social services for immigrants, empowering them with resources and education.

Shuna’s commitment to social justice is reflected in her work with various panels, including Grants and Community Partnership Panels. Her background in immigration representation gives her a deep understanding of systemic inequalities.

Outside of work, Shuna enjoys kayaking, connecting with nature, and finding balance. Her passion for the outdoors aligns with her commitment to environmental sustainability.
