Sophia Andrews is the Coordinator for Taproot Noire.

"Sophia Olivia Andrews (she/her) is the Coordinator for Taproot Noire. She attended American University, majoring in International Studies, with a concentration in Peace, Global Security, and Conflict Resolution. Seven years ago, Sophia founded Ngoma Kenya, a 501c3 nonprofit that focuses on Arts Education, Girl's Rights, and Youth Empowerment across East Africa. Through the creation of Ngoma Kenya, she has engaged with countless young people throughout Africa and the Diaspora to find their voices and use them as a tool for social change. Prior to joining Taproot Earth, Sophia worked on the Advocacy and Public Policy team at the Recording Academy / GRAMMYS, organizing music makers to engage in policy issues affecting the music community. She has also worked on the Organizing team at Brady, fighting against gun violence in the United States. Sophia is a Diana Award recipient and among Washington DC’s 25 under 25. She resides in Arlington, VA, and enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, playing the guitar, and going for runs in her free time."
