Ashley Herad

Policy & Law Program Manager

Ashley (she/her) is Policy & Law Program Manager for Taproot Earth. She served in the Louisiana Governor’s Press Office in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. She brings extensive legislative advocacy on issues of affordable housing, early childhood education, criminal justice reform, budget and tax policy, voter engagement, and anti-poverty initiatives to the team. 

Ashley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Louisiana State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the State University of New York, Binghamton.

Ashley was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, spent her childhood in the New Orleans area, and still calls her beloved city home. Her family roots are in prairie Cajun country in south Louisiana, and in Iran, where poetry and music and delicious food are never in short supply. She dreams of owning a dog.
