Taproot Noire invites Black climate leaders from the U.S. and the Global South to an NYC Climate Week social to connect around a global approach to climate justice starting with the frontlines within the African diaspora. Attendees will have the opportunity to coordinate delegations and work connected to COP27 and beyond — but mostly, we’re getting together to be Black and be Free for a concentrated moment in time.

Taproot Noire invites Black climate leaders to join us for a Black Climate Leadership Summit during NYC Climate Week. Wisdom circles featuring esteemed movement leaders including Denise Fairchild, Jacqui Patterson, Adrienne Bloch, Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, Monica Atkins, and Gloria Walton will offer emerging climate leaders the opportunity to share knowledge and advance growth and accountability. The Summit will facilitate political alignment and deep connection for Black Leaders working on climate impacts toward justice around Water, Energy, Land, Labor, Economy, and Democracy in the U.S. and around the globe.

Gulf Gathering is the annual convening of members of the Gulf South for a Green New Deal (GS4GND), held in October to align as a region and plan the coming year. Attendees will assess Years 1 and 2, Identify regional priorities for Year 3 to build a regional action plan and strategy, and strengthen the network through knowledge sharing, training, and leadership development.
